The aims and objectives of the OERTM Initial Training Programme are to equip the delegate with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to perform the role of Offshore Emergency Response Team Member effectively.

General Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, delegates will be deemed competent to take up the role of an Offshore Emergency Response Team Member.

Course Content:
The following modules and elements will be delivered:
  • Theoretical Elements:
    • Breathing apparatus techniques
    • Closed containers
    • Combustion
    • Confined Spaces
    • Extinguishers
    • Fixed systems / detection systems
    • Gas characteristics
    • Hazardous substances
    • Hose handling / Water protection
    • Internal fire fighting
    • Pressure vessels
    • Teamwork
  • Practical Elements:
    • Breathing apparatus techniques
    • Casualty handling
    • Chemical incident including decontamination procedures
    • Confined Spaces
    • Extinguisher - hose reels
    • Foam equipment
    • Incident stabilizations including cooling and isolation
    • Internal / external fire fighting involving Class A, B, and C
